9 MONTHS old

crawling...or should I say scooting,
(She has the funny crawl that Jakeb, Kaleb, and Makenna had. It must be the harwood floors. She can also slide across the floor like Makenna did too. )

another tooth popped through,

goes from lying to sitting,

still eats baby food, but some table foods too,

Still refuses a bottle or sippy cup,

is one of the cutest babies in the whole wide world.

Did the zoo...

...for the last time until we renew our passes. We were able to go with the Smuda's, and man, did everyone have fun. We saw things we had never seen before like the tigers, a Sumatran Rhino, some pathetic creature called a Takin, and even the Flamingos. There were 11 kids, 2 moms, a double stroller, and a wagon with a trailer. You guys should have seen us. I'm sure someone thought we had our own daycare. Good times all around!!!

Here's the Takin. I have never seen one of these before, and I've gone to the zoo countless times.

And just in case you thought she wasn't there....Here's Klaire's first real ride on the carousel.

How in the world...

did I NOT notice this? You guys thought I was joking when I posted about it on Facebook. Remember when I got my haircut back here?? It's been a good THREE months.since my haircut. Today I decided to straighten my hair, and this is what I found!! The front

the "WHAT DID SHE DO TO MY HAIR" side

the better side

AHHHHHh!!!!

Tonight I went to the hairdresser, and she stated that this was one of the worse haircuts she had ever seen. In fact, this is what a beginner hairdresser does to hair on a MANNEQUIN!!! OH my word!

Anyways.....here's what it looks like now.

racing

We go outside to play, and inevitably every single time the boys start fighting about what to play. One wants to play baseball, the other sword fighting. One wants to ride bikes, the other hunt for bugs. Then they decide to do one, and within just a few minutes, they are fighting and saying, "I'm not going to play anymore." Then they will come and sit on the porch and pout, or they'll come and tattle to me as though I didn't just hear the whole thing happen. I'm telling you it's constant, and it DRIVES ME CRAZY! So the other day, I chose what they were going to do. They were going to race. I had enough of their silly bickering about what to do, and I told them they were going to have races and that was that! They were able to race all different kinds of ways like a bunny, a bear, even an airplane. Even Makenna joined in on the fun.

Now Makenna will stand in a get-ready to run stance, and say, "Go?" She'll even do it in the house which gets all her brothers to join in on the action of a race indoors!

standing

Look who's standing up. Okay, so she's not pulling up on her own yet, although I did find her sitting up in her crib today. That's a start. She loves to be propped up, so she can stand all day!

brotherly love

These boys sure do love their baby sister!!!

Eye on you

Kaleb hasn't said it for awhile, but back in March he was constantly saying, "I've got Your Eye one YOU!" Here's a pic of him saying it. I'm serious, you just had to HEAR him say it. It was soooo funny and so cute!

A simple reminder

I was compared to this today. As I was in the check out lane at Kohl's, a complete stranger walked up to me and said, "Do you know what you remind me of? A duck and all her ducklings." I just smiled, looked at her, and told her that it wasn't the first time someone had said that to me. I mean, what's a person to say? She said it was a laughing manner, so I definitely didn't take it as a bad thing. Of course, she asked if they were all mine, and then she was floored that they were. Her response was, "I chickened out at two."
Immediately following that encounter, I had a lady come up to me and say, "Are these all yours? or do you watch some kids?" I said, "Yup, they're all mine." She looked at me and asked, Do you know what you are......BLESSED!" I totally agreed with her. I liked her. Such a nice lady!

It's true. I am blessed. God has entrusted me with 6 healthy kids, and a lot of times I take that for granted. The other day I read a church sign and it said, "Each day is a gift. Unwrap it slowly." There was something about those words that made me pause and think. I don't think of each day as a gift from God. Sometimes I wake up grumpy thinking of what I have to do that day. Or some days I wake ups to kids screaming and yelling at each other. (And believe me, that's NOT cool.) But regardless of how I wake up, I need to realize that God has given me another gift...the gift of living another day. I need to do my best to live for Him. Sometimes I catch myself dwelling on the negative. Everyone knows that I DO NOT like homeschooling, but it's our only option as of right now. So, I grumble and complain about it. I should realize that homeschooling is a gift straight from God Himself. I get to spend extra time with my kids that many others don't get to enjoy. As hard as it is to admit, I know that one day I'm going to look back and miss the homeschool days, and I'll probably wish that I cherished them a little bit more. So my prayer is that I will treat each day as a gift, and do my best to please God throughout each day.
So, I guess if being compared to a duck reminds me of all this, people can tell me that all the time!
